Between the Royal Hospital and the Chelsea Physic Garden, our completed infill at 4–6 Dilke Street demonstrates how intelligent, heritage-sensitive design can increase density within a conservation area. Replacing poor-quality buildings with a refined pair of new mews houses containing four well-planned homes, the project improves daylight, outlook, and access while respecting the grain, scale, and material character of the street.

A key move — removing a cramped landlocked structure to create a generous cascading garden at the heart of the block — improves the setting of adjacent listed buildings. Pitched slate roofs, pale brickwork, air source heating, and rainwater harvesting are embedded throughout.
