The pedestrian tunnels beneath the world-renowned BFI IMAX at Waterloo serve thousands of visitors daily — yet have long felt unwelcoming and unsafe. We have been appointed by a landmark cross-sector partnership — including Lambeth Council, Transport for London, South Bank BID, South Bank Employers' Group, the British Film Institute, and Vinegar Yard — to reimagine these spaces, with particular focus on the safety and experiences of women and girls.
Working with YOYOPOP, Light Follows Behaviour, Robert Bray Associates, Griffin Research & Consultancy, and We Rise, we launched an extensive community engagement programme in May 2026 to shape proposals for lighting, wayfinding, safety, and placemaking at this iconic South Bank location.
