Our project for Islington’s historic Chapel Market started on site in May 2023. We've been working with the council, market traders and local businesses to create a joint plan for a market that is fit for the future with new trees and planting, spaces for events and guest markets, and a new wash-up area for food traders.
Chapel Market is a traditional street market located in the heart of Angel that has been in operation for over 100 years. Traders sell a mix of food, fresh fruit and veg, clothing, flowers, home essentials and hot takeaway food. Although in recent years there has been a decline in trader occupancy, the market remains a valued and trusted source for low cost goods, healthy food and services.
We worked with a team including Retail Revival and The Means to celebrate the qualities of Chapel Market and develop it further as a social, inclusive and healthy community at the heart of Islington.
