CarverHaggard

CarverHaggard’s Studio 8 at London Metropolitan University investigated the large and ugly structures that underpin the contemporary economy, and building types and parts of London that were being ignored by mainstream architectural discourse. The studio was a framework for research and academic collaboration, carrying out two extended projects exploring planning and economic policy, and proposing new interventions to adapt complex sites.

Economic Landscapes was a 3 year study of the future role of manufacturing in contemporary suburban and semi-rural economies. New masterplans explored the tensions between industrial use and the designation of landscape value in London’s Green Belt and the protected landscapes of the South Downs.
