The Factory is an enterprise and education project in Brixton creating career options for young people in art, design, music, and media.
The project was awarded an initial grant by the Our Place programme and was tested in a space over Brixton Market in March 2015, with the Factory Lab hosting a series of workshops and events.
For the Lab project, we developed a kit of parts including a long table and a mobile storage and display structure. These pieces were made from industrial components and upcycled waste materials provided by the Remakery and local manufacturers 2MZ, and built with the help of some of the participants.
We are now working with the partners on the long-term implementation of the programme.
